Biosecurity Workshops

Iowa State University has designed a trailer to aid in conducting in-class training and trailer demonstrations for all ages and audience education levels.

Every workshop includes an educational presentation on the importance of biosecurity, followed by live demonstration with the trailer. An interactive Glo GermTM exercise is conducted with all audiences. The trailer also demonstrates the bench entry process, showering in, security, and much more.

Ventilation Workshops

Swine ventilation workshops offer producers a mechanism to develop a progressively deeper understanding of ventilation system management and troubleshooting to create an environment for healthy and efficient pig growth. These workshops are formatted as lectures and hands-on instruction utilizing a 24-foot trailer equipped with a functioning ventilation system to simulate fan, inlet, and controller management.

These workshops are offered in two formats: sponsored or public.

Sponsored

Workshop fees are paid by a business entity, typically a swine company, feed company or vet clinic and are closed events. Sponsors are responsible for providing the location (classroom and garage area for trailer) and the meal for participants. The sponsor also pays an additional fee to cover ISU Extension and Outreach expenses.

Public

Workshop fee is based on a per-person basis and open to a local region. In addition to the expenses listed above, these workshops also must incorporate meal and facility costs.
