TEAMPork
TEAMPork is an
interdisciplinary team of Iowa State University faculty and staff members
working together for Iowa's pork producers. They assist producers in evaluating
options and making decisions related to: engineering, nutrition, genetics,
health, environmental management, financial feasibility and economic profitability.
This process is accomplished on an individual case basis.
Farm Financial Planning (FINPACK)
Producers
are invited to take part in a unique two-part approach that uses TEAMPork
and FINPACK, ISU Extension's farm financial planning program. First, producers
request a FINPACK analysis of their pork operation. This analysis generally
costs $25 per hour for four to six hours, but a combination of USDA grant
money, reallocation of ISU Extension funds and financial assistance from
the Iowa Pork Producers Association, now allows this service to be provided
at no charge for a limited time. Following this analysis, those producers
whose FINPACK results show adequate financial resources can apply for
a TEAMPork visit.

Our objective is to provide a systems approach
to developing a business plan and evaluating longer term strategic plans
for swine operations. This "whole systems" approach improves
the potential for success and increased efficiency of the swine enterprise
system.
